The story

Launched in 1994 to replace the C25, this large van is Britain's Relay. Its first generation shares Atessa-built bodywork with the Ducato and Boxer through Fiat and PSA's Sevel partnership.3

  1. 1994

A new name and 58 body variants

Replacing the C25, the first-generation Jumper opens a 1994–2006 run with 58 body variants and up to 14 cubic meters of cargo room.13

  2. 2002

    Facelift, HDi and LPG

May brings a 2.2 HDi and a 2.0-liter gasoline/LPG alternative; the first generation also gets a redesigned nose and headlights.34

  3. 2003

    CNG without losing cargo space

A gasoline/CNG version joins the range; its extra gas tanks leave the cargo volume unchanged.4

  4. 2006

    All-new generation, 17 cubic meters

Fiat and PSA replace their large vans. The new Jumper offers up to 17 cubic meters and, after repeated updates, remains on sale in 2024.1

  5. 2013

Four lengths, three heights, 180 hp

The Euro 5 range spans 8–17 cubic meters and 1,155–1,995 kg payloads. The tested 2.2 HDi 130 delivers 320 Nm.5

  6. 2017

70 modern vans dressed as Type Hs

David Obendorfer and Fabrizio Caselani create a Type H tribute from the Jumper; the initial plan limits conversions to 70.6

  7. 2021

Electric e-Relay opens for UK orders

UK orders open with 37 or 70 kWh batteries, 11.5–15 cubic meters of load space and payloads of 740–1,150 kg.7

  8. 2024

    New face, 110 kWh battery

A new logo and LED lights arrive. The 110 kWh e-Relay claims 420 km versus 322 km in real use; 150 kW charging takes 10–80% in about 55 minutes.18

How to spot one

Look for

  • Check the badge: shared body panels make the Jumper, Boxer and Ducato near-identical.317
  • The original 1994 body has a nearly smooth nose; the front and headlights changed in 2002.13
  • The 2006 design has a one-box outline and apostrophe-shaped front lights.1
  • The 2014 facelift has thin, horizontal, almond-shaped headlights.117
  • The 2024 face wears a new Citroën logo, reshaped grille and LED headlights.1

Year by year

  1. 2002

The nearly smooth original nose gave way to a redesigned front and headlights; the rest of the body barely changed.3

  2. 2014

A reshaped grille and bumper accompany thin, horizontal, almond-shaped headlights; LED daytime running lights also arrived.117

  3. 2024

A new Citroën logo, revised grille and LED headlights identify the update; the cabin gained digital instruments and a 10-inch screen.1

Don’t confuse it with

  • Peugeot Boxer

Shared bodywork makes the badge the useful distinction.317

  • Fiat Ducato

For the 2006 design, look for the large grille: it is absent from the Jumper and Boxer.317

  • Citroën Type H

Rear-hinged cab doors point to the original; some Dutch-market Type H vans instead have conventional hinges.1618
