How to spot one
Look for
- First-generation Modutop: five rectangular roof windows and built-in roof bars.12
- Second generation: upright profile, a high roof and sliding rear doors form a compact-van outline.6
- Third generation: Airbump panels sit low on the doors beneath the tall, upright body.5
- The 2018 design uses black A-pillars and its own roof-bar style.16
Year by year
- 1999–2001
Early cars lack sliding rear doors. A right-hand slider appeared in spring 1999; Modutop's glass roof followed in January 2001.111
- 2012
Second-generation facelift: rounder grille and long chevrons reaching the headlights; blue accents appeared in the lamp units.3
- 2015
Second-generation update: wider grille and lower-set LED daytime lights; a 7-inch touchscreen appeared inside.7
- 2024 (Japan)
New central badge and three-part front lights; inside, a 10-inch screen, digital dials and two-spoke steering wheel.14
