The story

Conceived as Louis Schweitzer's €5,000 family sedan, Logan grew from Renault's 1999 Dacia deal into a worldwide product. Its first generation also became the Renault Logan, Nissan Aprio, Mahindra Verito and Lada Largus.13

    Logan launches in June

    Sales begin in September, as Logan takes over from the Renault 12-based Dacia 1310.3

  2. 2006

    MCV: seven seats or 2,350 liters

    The original MCV premieres in Paris and launches in Romania in October, with up to seven seats and a maximum 2,350-liter load bay.4

  3. 2012

    Second Logan adds a three-cylinder turbo

    The second-generation sedan debuts in September, retaining a 510-liter trunk while adding the TCe 90 three-cylinder turbo.2

  4. 2016

    Easy-R for the second-generation MCV

    The MCV gains an optional five-speed Easy-R automated manual on TCe 90 and dCi 90 versions.5

  5. 2018

    Logan I passes 2.8 million built

    The first generation totals over 2.8 million: 1.3 million Dacia cars through 2013 and over 1.5 million Renault-badged cars by June 2018.2

  6. 2020

    Third generation moves to CMF-B

    The third Logan adopts the CMF-B platform, gasoline or gasoline/LPG engines, and an optional CVT.67

  7. 2021

    Two Euro NCAP stars

    Radar-only emergency braking reacts to vehicles, but not pedestrians or cyclists; lane support is absent.8

  8. 2024

    Logan XX celebrates 20 years

    The anniversary edition uses Brâncuși-inspired Roman-numeral graphics and offers Dacia's first optional two-tone body, with a black roof.9

  9. 2026

    Eco-G 120 gets a dual-clutch automatic

    Scheduled for spring 2026: TCe 100 gasoline with a six-speed manual, plus 200 Nm Eco-G 120 gasoline/LPG with manual or dual-clutch automatic.1011

How to spot one

Look for

  • Original sedan: angular rear end and a trunk lid that reaches far down the tail.2
  • Original MCV: tall roof, roof rails, vertical rear lamps and unequal split rear doors.4
  • Second-generation MCV: Sandero styling from nose to rear doors, with a wagon body and lift-up tailgate.517
  • Third-generation launch cars: Y-shaped LED lights, a sloping windshield and a lower roof.6

  1. July 2008

    Sedan gains a bigger grille/new badge, larger headlights, flush bumpers and revised rear lights; inside, a Sandero-style dashboard.21

  2. 2013

    Second MCV switches to a conventional lift-up tailgate, replacing the original wagon's unequal rear doors.5

  3. Late 2016

    MCV update adds daytime running lights made of stacked rectangles.19

  4. 2020

    Third-generation sedan adopts a lower, more sloping profile and Y-shaped LED lighting front and rear.6

  5. 2022

    New Dacia Link emblem joins stylized D and C shapes like chain links.22

  6. 2026

    Front LEDs become inverted Ts, linked to a new grille by white pixel-like dots; matching inverted-T dashboard vents appear inside.1011
