The story

Planned for Brazil, Sandero set out to make new-car ownership affordable, with room from the class above. Its coined name evokes Spanish sendero (path) and sand.12

    Renault launches in Brazil

    Sandero reaches Brazil in December as a Renault, becoming the first Renault model to make its market debut outside Europe.3

  2. 2008

    Dacia arrives at Geneva

    The Dacia version debuts at Geneva in March. The first generation packs a 320-liter trunk into a 4,020 mm body.234

  3. 2012

    Almost 80% shared with Logan

    The second generation debuts at Paris. Sharing nearly 80% of its parts with Logan helps keep costs down.35

  4. 2016

    A 1.0 triple replaces the 1.2

    The facelift replaces the 1.2 four-cylinder with a 1.0 triple. TCe 90 offers LPG; TCe 90 and dCi 90 can also use Easy-R automated shifting.36

  5. 2020

    CMF-B and 36% lighter steering

    The third generation brings CMF-B and electric steering with 36% less effort; cabin background noise falls 3–5 dB at 50–130 km/h.37

  6. 2021

    Stepway earns two Euro NCAP stars

    Vehicle-only AEB and no lane support limit Stepway to two stars, despite crash protection that could otherwise support a four-star result.8

  7. 2025

    LPG automatic and hybrid announced

    The refresh brings TCe 100; Eco-G 120 gains a six-speed dual-clutch option. Stepway hybrid 155 is announced for late 2026.9

  8. 2026

    France reaches 1 million Sanderos

    France takes delivery of its millionth Sandero, counting Sandero and Stepway together across all sales channels.1

Look for

  • First generation: wave-like sculpting along the sides.26
  • Second generation: flared arches and a shoulder crease wrapping around the rear.36
  • Third generation at launch: Y-shaped light signatures at both ends.310
  • Third-generation Stepway: raised ride, roof bars, arch cladding, skid-plate trim and a ribbed hood.10

    New front styling shared with Logan, redesigned rear lights, more sculpted sides and more pronounced wheel arches.35

  2. 2016 facelift

    Four stacked rectangular LED DRLs, a honeycomb grille and four-block rear lamps; window switches move to the doors.6

  3. 2020 (third generation)

    Y-shaped light signatures arrive, along with a lower roofline, a more sloping windshield and a rear-set antenna.310

  4. 2022

    Sandero and Stepway adopt the new Dacia logo and brand identity.19

  5. Announced October 2025

    Inverted-T front LEDs, white grille dots and pixel rear lamps; Stepway gains white-speckled Starkle protection.9
