How to spot one

Look for

  • Ami 6 sedans have a reverse-rake rear window.1
  • The Ami 6 hood has a central dip between its raised headlamps.2
  • Ami 8 sedans have fastback rear glass but retain a separate trunk lid.110
  • Ami 8 wagon taillights are built into the rear fenders.1

Year by year

  1. 1964–1968

Ami 6: flat-topped rear lamps become pointed in 1964; one-piece units follow in 1968.218

  2. 1966–1968

Ami 6: a voltmeter replaces the charge light in 1966; a black dash and horizontal grille bars follow, then honeycomb mesh in 1968.218

  3. June 1970

Ami 8: roll-down front windows replace sliding panes, and double chevrons appear on the grille.10

  4. March–April 1973

Ami 8: a small gold-toned trunk badge arrives in March; smaller Citroën lettering with double chevrons follows in April.10

  5. September 1976

Ami 8: black honeycomb replaces the silver mesh grille, and the dashboard returns to black.10

Don’t confuse it with

  • Ford Anglia 105E

Both have reverse-rake rear glass; an ordinary Ami 6 has rectangular headlamps and a centrally dipped hood.12
