為了替 R1150GS 瘦身，2004 年問世的 R1200GS 一口氣減重 30 公斤。GS 的氣冷／油冷生產期為 2004–12 年，Adventure 則為 2005–13 年；兩者分別在 2013 年與 2014 年迎來部分水冷設計。134

    全新 R1200GS 搭載 1,170 cc 水平對臥雙缸引擎，前方配備兩具 305 mm 碟盤。引擎減重 13 公斤，底盤與行走系統再減去 17 公斤。3

  2. 2005

    Adventure 為 2006 年式登場

    BMW 在 2005 年底推出 R1200GS Adventure，接替 R1150GS Adventure。15

  3. 2007

    柏林累計打造 100,000 輛 GS 與 Adventure

    The July 27 milestone comprises 84,373 standard GS bikes and 15,627 Adventures.6

  4. 2008

    轉向更俐落，並可選配 Enduro ESA

    GS 的前傾角由 27.1 度收至 25.7 度，拖曳距則從 110 mm 縮短至 101 mm。Enduro ESA 可透過按鈕調整預載與阻尼。7

  5. 2010

    承襲 HP2 Sport，改採 DOHC 汽缸頭

    GS 與 Adventure 跟進 HP2 Sport，換上 DOHC 汽缸頭，最高轉速也提高至 8,500 rpm。18

  6. 2013

    精準水冷搭配濕式滑動離合器

    新款 GS 以水冷負責 35% 的散熱，另有 65% 仰賴氣冷。這次改款也加入濕式滑動離合器與電子油門。24

  7. 2014

    Adventure 加入部分水冷設計

    Adventure 比 GS 晚一年採用部分水冷的水平對臥引擎；30 公升油箱比標準版多出 10 公升。4

  8. 2017

    Rallye 與 TE Exclusive 各有鮮明定位

    Rallye 配備窄版座墊、水箱護網與交叉輻條輪圈；TE Exclusive 則採用 Iced Chocolate 金屬漆、灰色飾板與金色煞車卡鉗。9

  9. 2019

    R1200GS 車系的最後一年

    水冷版 GS 與 Adventure 停產，由 R1250GS 接棒 R1200GS。13
