軽量化を目指して開発された2004年型R1200GSは、R1150GSから30 kgの減量を実現しました。空油冷モデルの生産は、GSが2004–12年、Adventureが2005–13年。部分水冷化は、それぞれ2013年と2014年に行われました。134

    R1150GSより30 kg軽量化

    新型R1200GSは、1,170 ccのボクサーエンジンと305 mmのフロントダブルディスクを組み合わせています。エンジンで13 kg、シャシーと足回りで17 kgの軽量化を実現しました。3

    2006年型でAdventure登場

    BMWは2005年末にR1150GS Adventureの後継となるR1200GS Adventureを発売しました。15

    GSのキャスター角は27.1度から25.7度に立ち、トレールは110 mmから101 mmに短縮。Enduro ESAでは、ボタン操作でプリロードと減衰力を調整できます。7

    HP2 Sportに続いてDOHCヘッドを採用

    HP2 Sportに続き、GSとAdventureもDOHCヘッドを採用。レッドゾーンは8,500 rpmまで引き上げられました。18

    狙いを定めた冷却と湿式スリッパークラッチ

    新型GSは冷却の35%を水、65%を空気が担います。刷新にあわせ、湿式スリッパークラッチとライド・バイ・ワイヤも採用しました。24

    Adventureも部分水冷化

    AdventureはGSの翌年に部分水冷ボクサーを採用。30リットルのタンクは標準モデルより10リットル大容量です。4

    RallyeとTE Exclusive、それぞれの個性

    Rallyeはスリムシート、ラジエーターガード、クロススポークホイールを装備。TE ExclusiveはIced Chocolate metallicのボディにグレーのパネルとゴールドのブレーキキャリパーを組み合わせます。9

    R1200GSファミリー、最終年

    水冷GSとAdventureの生産が終了し、R1200GSの後継としてR1250GSが登場しました。13
