    Chennai-built Atos replacement debuts

The first i10 was announced in New Delhi on October 31, built in Chennai for Indian buyers and export markets.1

  2. 2011

    Blue drops below 100 g/km

    The facelift brought a 68-hp 1.0 Blue and an 85-hp 1.2. Blue claimed 67.3 mpg (UK) and 99 g/km CO2, with a top speed of about 150 km/h.23

  3. 2013

Europe goes Turkish; India goes Grand

European i10 production shifted to Izmit, Turkey. India's Grand i10 added 40 mm of wheelbase and a 70-hp 1.1 diesel.14

  4. 2017

1.0 SE trails Picanto and up! to 60 mph

Tested to 60 mph, the 1.0 SE took 13.2 seconds against 12.4 for Kia Picanto and 12.2 for Volkswagen up!.5

  5. 2019

Grand i10 Nios arrives in India

The Indian third generation debuted on August 7; its 1.2 petrol and diesel engines could both be paired with a manual or AMT.16

  6. 2020

How to spot one

Look for

  • First generation: the rear window has an upward kink.1
  • 2017 facelift: a larger cascading front grille.18
  • Mk3: an X-shaped rear roof pillar carries an i10 logo.79
  • Mk3: two horizontal tailgate creases run into the rear lights.79
  • Launch Grand i10 Nios with daytime running lights: boomerang shapes frame the grille.6

Year by year

  1. 2011

New grille, reshaped lights and colored side strips; the rear bumper also changed, and Comfort became Active.123

  2. 2013–2014

The second generation becomes longer, wider and lower, giving it a broader, less upright outline.1

  3. 2013 Grand i10

India's Grand i10 has a 40 mm longer wheelbase than Europe's car, larger rear doors, a different rear pillar and a less sloping window line.14

  4. 2017

A larger cascading grille and revised bumper arrive; on trims with LEDs, round running lights replace L-shaped units and move into the grille.18

  5. 2020

A lower, wider body gains an X-shaped rear roof pillar with an i10 logo; a contrasting black or red roof becomes available.7

  6. 2023

New front light signatures and grille mesh, H-shaped rear LEDs, plus Lumen Grey and Meta Blue paints and a black two-tone roof option.11

Don’t confuse it with

  • Tata Tiago

The launch Grand i10 Nios has similar rear lights; look for its Gi10 logo on the black rear pillar.6

  • Ford Figo

The launch Grand i10 Nios can resemble it from behind; its oversized front grille has boomerang daytime lights at both ends.6
