The story

Built to replace imported UAZ 469s, the Honker served Poland's army and police and found an unusual civilian role: KGHM's adapted versions carried miners underground.^1,2

Only 35% of the necessary tooling is ready when production starts in Poznań on January 30; just 48 Honkers are built that year.⁵

Daewoo moves Honker to Lublin
Daewoo buys the license and tooling, moving production to Lublin. The 1997 Honker 2324 adds Andoria diesel power and front disc brakes.^1,6
2000
Honker 2000 gets a new face
The September facelift brings a revised nose and dashboard; power steering becomes standard, while the leaf-sprung solid axles remain.⁶

Andoria restarts; Intrall follows
Andoria-Mot restarts production after Daewoo's collapse; Intrall follows in 2004, only to go bankrupt in 2007.¹

The standard body has three doors, including a single narrow rear door.^1,17
Mining conversions can carry a protective roll cage.⁵

Intrall's five-door prototypes had fixed plastic roofs; the second gained a single-piece windshield and tubular bumpers.⁶
