How to spot one
Look for
- Regular bodies use Mazda 323 F-derived taillights.2
- Six-cylinder cars use Citroen CX mirrors; Vantages have different mirror housings.713
Year by year
- 1996 Volante
The Volante added a powered canvas roof; its folded roof stack remains visible above the rear deck.712
- July 1996 / 1997 model year
Twin airbags, revised seats and switchgear and an adjustable steering column mark the update; a steel hood replaced the composite panel.7
- 1999 V12 Vantage
A larger grille, round lamp clusters, 18-inch ten-spoke wheels, new mirrors and circular exhaust surrounds mark the V12 Vantage.813
- 2002 model year
Optional 19-inch, nine-spoke wheels and red, gold or graphite-gray brake calipers joined the Vantage options list.13
- 2002 GT / GTA
Hood vents, a framed mesh grille with GT insignia, five-spoke wheels and a reshaped trunk-lid lip spoiler mark the GT/GTA.8
- 2003 model year
Vantages could have optional GT five-spoke wheels and grooved brakes; power-folding mirrors also became available.13
