The story

Aston Martin’s first SUV was part of its Second Century Plan, built to widen sales. It paired a dedicated SUV platform with the St Athan, Wales, plant, reaching showrooms after an investor rescue kept the company afloat.15

    DBX unveiled in November

    The original V8 debuts with 542 hp, a nine-speed automatic and AWD: 5,039 mm long, 1,998 mm wide and 1,680 mm high, on a 3,060 mm wheelbase.16

  2. 2020

    Welsh production starts in July

    Original DBX: triple-chamber air suspension, 48V roll control, 632 L luggage space, 2,700 kg towing, 500 mm wading depth and up to 235 mm ground clearance.17

  3. 2021

    China-only 48V Straight-Six

    The 429 hp, 3.0 L mild hybrid costs CNY400,000 less than the V8, helped by its smaller engine qualifying for a lower import-tax bracket.78

  4. 2022

    DBX707: 697 hp and wet-clutch shifts

    The V8 gains ball-bearing turbos, 900 Nm and a nine-speed wet-clutch automatic. Standard 420 mm front carbon-ceramic brakes rein in the extra thrust.79

  5. 2023

    DBX707 becomes Formula 1 Medical Car

    The DBX707 takes over from the original DBX, carrying medics, a defibrillator and fire extinguishers.710

  6. 2024

    New cabin; DBX707 takes over

    DBX707 becomes the sole powertrain, gaining a redesigned cabin and an in-house infotainment system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen.11

    DBX S: Valhalla turbos, up to 47 kg less

    DBX S brings 717 hp and 900 Nm with Valhalla-derived turbo technology. An optional carbon-fiber roof and magnesium wheels help cut up to 47 kg versus DBX707.12

    DBX debuts CarPlay Ultra

    US and Canadian orders gain CarPlay Ultra; updates are promised for existing cars with next-generation infotainment, and a global rollout is planned within 12 months.13

    DBX GT turns toward comfort

    October’s DBX GT keeps 717 hp and 900 Nm, adds 10 mm memory-foam seat layers and retunes its dampers for better compliance over poor surfaces.14
