The story

Created to attract younger buyers, the EX30 debuted in June 2023 as Volvo’s smallest current SUV. Its SEA2 platform ties it to Smart #1 and Zeekr X; recycled aluminum, steel and plastics help shrink its footprint.12

    At 4,233 mm long with a 2,650 mm wheelbase, the EX30 debuts with a Twin Motor Performance claiming 0–100 km/h in 3.4 seconds: Volvo’s quickest yet.2

    Single Motor: 51-kWh LFP, 344 km WLTP and 134-kW DC. Extended Range: 69-kWh NMC, 480 km WLTP, 153-kW DC and 10–80% in 28 minutes.2

    Volvo’s lowest-footprint EV claim assumes the 51-kWh LFP Single Motor, 15 years/200,000 km and EU28 electricity. Its body uses 25% recycled aluminum.23

    It wins World Urban Car and earns five Euro NCAP stars, with 88% adult protection. Cyclist dooring protection is not on by default each trip.456

    Ghent and Shah Alam join China

    Production expands from China to Ghent, Belgium, and Shah Alam, Malaysia. Ghent starts building both the EX30 and Cross Country in April.27

    Following U.S. launch delays, the Twin Motor Performance hits 60 mph in 3.3 seconds in Car and Driver testing, with 0.3 second of rollout omitted.18

    The first electric Cross Country

    Cross Country brings 196 mm of unladen clearance, skidplates and optional all-terrain tires. Its U.S. EPA range spans 327–365 km.2910

    U.S. exit after two model years

    The U.S. run ends after model year 2026. Volvo gives no cause; tariffs and slower EV sales are possible factors. Canada and Mexico keep the EX30.2

    MY2027: 148 hp and V2L readiness

    MY2027 brings a 148-hp option and rear-drive Cross Country outside Norway. V2L and interface updates are planned for new and existing cars.11
