    India joins Hungary and China as a production base; the locally built S-Cross is the first model sold through the new NEXA network.7

  4. 2016

    Boosterjet replaces the 1.6 gas engine

    The facelift swaps the 1.6 gas engine for 1.0 and 1.4 turbos; the 1.4 makes 138 hp and 220 Nm, and a six-speed Aisin automatic replaces the CVT.89

  5. 2017

    India's 1.3 diesel gains mild hybrid

    The facelift pairs a larger grille with a mild-hybrid system for the sole 1.3 diesel.10

  6. 2020

    48V assistance for the 1.4 Boosterjet

    The Dutch 1.4 Smart Hybrid adds 48V starter-generator assistance and cuts fuel use and CO2; its gas engine makes 127 hp and 235 Nm.11

    SX4 S-Cross becomes S-Cross

    Unveiled in November, the replacement drops SX4 from its name. European sales start at year-end with a 48V 1.4 mild hybrid.812

How to spot one

Look for

  • Early cars have a rounded, drooping nose and a two-bar chrome grille.16
  • On early cars, the mirrors grow out of the doors rather than the window pillars.16
  • From late 2021, look for a piano-black grille, high hood and squared wheel-arch trim.12
  • Late-2021-on cars have three-point lamps front and rear, with high taillights linked by a center garnish.26
