    Concept CIAZ reaches the showroom

    February's Concept CIAZ becomes a production sedan in India in October, with exports planned for the Middle East, Latin America and Africa.3

    Alivio in China, Ciaz from Rayong

    China gets the 1.6-liter Alivio. Rayong, Thailand builds the Ciaz with K12B gasoline power and a five-speed manual or CVT.24

    Diesel SHVS recovers braking energy

    India's 1.3-liter diesel gains an integrated starter-generator and brake regeneration: claimed 28.09 km/l and 0–100 km/h in 13.2 seconds.5

    NEXA move and 170,000 sales

    Indian sales move to NEXA in April. By August, over 170,000 Ciaz sedans have sold since the October 2014 launch.26

  5. 2018

    K15B gasoline gets lithium-ion assist

    India's facelift replaces the 1.4 with a 1.5-liter K15B. Gasoline Smart Hybrid adds a lithium-ion battery, torque assist and brake regeneration.27

  6. 2019

    E15A diesel: 225 Nm and six speeds

    India's in-house 1.5-liter diesel gets a six-speed manual. Road-tested at 11.50 seconds to 100 km/h, it achieves this without mild-hybrid assistance.28

  7. 2021

    Toyota Belta, then Oshan Qiyue

    The Indian-built Ciaz becomes Toyota's Belta for selected African markets in November 2021; China's Oshan Qiyue relaunch follows in 2022.2

    Indian production ends in April

    Maruti Suzuki ends Ciaz production in April 2025 as sedan demand shrinks and the company concentrates on crossovers.9

    South Africa's almost 11-year run ends

Look for

  • Suzuki S emblems sit on the grille and tail.13
  • Creases run along the doors and just above the sills.20
  • Split taillight clusters accompany a chrome-garnished trunk lid.13
  • Original Indian cars have projector headlights even in base trims.13
  • The Indian facelift's grille stretches between the headlights, edged above and below in chrome.21

    Alivio Pro gets a redesigned grille and front bumper, new 16-inch wheels and a lightly revised rear bumper.16

  2. 2018, India: front

    Horizontal grille slats give way to segmented dashes; the facelift also introduces LED headlights, running lights and fog lights.221

  3. 2018, India: wheels and rear

    Look for a new 16-inch alloy design and LED inserts inside the otherwise similar taillights.221

  4. 2020, Thailand

    The facelift introduces LED projector headlights, a new grille and bumpers, plus added trunk-lid trim.15

    Oshan Qiyue revives the pre-facelift Alivio styling, replacing Alivio emblems with Qiyue lettering.2
