How to spot one

Look for

  • Mk1: body and wheelbase are about 100 mm longer than the contemporary Passat.12
  • Mk2: sedan-shaped rear with TwinDoor, opening as a trunk lid or a whole hatch.2
  • Mk3: wide grille, sharply creased hood and a strong crease running along each side.6
  • Mk3: narrow, two-piece rear lights with C-shaped LED signatures.6
  • Mk4: an eight-sided grille and sculpted bodywork.5

Year by year

  1. 2006 facelift

First generation: new grille and headlights, mirror-mounted turn signals and C-shaped rear lights.2

  2. 2013 facelift

Second generation: integrated LED daytime running lights and LED rear lights identify the updated cars.2

  3. 2015 generation change

Third generation brings a sharp crease along the sides and narrow, two-piece C-shaped LED rear lights.6

  4. 2019 facelift

Mk3: larger double-slat grille, available Matrix LEDs and Škoda rear lettering; rear trim is chrome, or gloss black on SportLine.1115

  5. 2023 generation change

Fourth generation introduces an eight-sided grille and sculpted bodywork, retaining hatchback and Combi estate choices.5

Don’t confuse it with

  • Volkswagen Passat B5

First-generation Superb has about 100 mm more body length and wheelbase than the contemporary Passat.212

  • Volkswagen Passat B8

Third-generation Superb uses a hatchback tailgate; the contemporary Passat sedan has a separate trunk lid.219
