The story

Introduced in 2001 and built in Peterborough from 2002, the SR3 was shaped for the track-day market: two seats, a light tubular chassis, motorcycle-derived power, and bodywork that generates downforce.3456

Look for

  • Roofless, two-seat sports-racer body.34
  • First-generation high-downforce cars have sidepod vents behind the front wheels.7
  • SR3 XX: two-plane rear wing, rear diffuser and double front dive planes.11
  • SR3 XXR: a central shark fin rises from the tail.12
  • SR3 SL: a narrow rear wing with three stacked planes.17

Year by year

  1. 2009 (RS)

    RS brought a higher nose, new sidepods, reshaped front/rear diffusers and a revised rear wing.7

  2. About July 2011

    The roll hoop rose to meet FIA rules, creating the low-hoop and high-hoop distinction.18

  3. 2015 (RSX)

    Unveiled in late 2014, RSX lowered the wheel arches and added diffuser tunnels in the nose.9

  4. 2020 (XX)

    XX added revised LED race lights, composite mirrors and new rear-wing endplates; the steering wheel gained an LCD.310

  5. 2022 (XX)

    An optional halo appeared above the driver's head; the raised steering column improved visibility.14

  6. 2023 (XXR)

    XXR added a central tail fin, new lightweight wheels and high-intensity daytime running lights.312
