Het verhaal

Phantom verscheen in 1925 als opvolger van de Silver Ghost, aanvankelijk als chassis waarop klanten een carrosserie op maat lieten bouwen. Bij het eeuwfeest in 2025 hadden acht generaties de naam hoog in het Rolls-Royce-gamma gehouden.12

    De New Phantom vervangt de Silver Ghost

    Een nieuwe zescilinder-in-lijn met bovenliggende kleppen vervangt de zijklepmotor van de Silver Ghost; eigenaren laten hun carrosserie op maat bouwen.2

  2. 1936

    Phantom III krijgt V12-kracht

    Phantom III introduceert een V12 en onafhankelijke voorwielophanging. Het vermogen stijgt van 120 hp in Phantom II naar 165 hp.1

  3. 1950

    18 zescilinders voor royalty

    Phantom IV combineert een acht-in-lijn met uitzonderlijke exclusiviteit: van 1950 tot 1956 worden er slechts 18 gebouwd, uitsluitend voor koningshuizen en staatshoofden.3

  4. 1998

    BMW koopt de naam Rolls-Royce

    BMW verwerft de naam Rolls-Royce in juli en begint daarmee aan het project voor een nieuwe auto en een nieuwe fabriek.4

  5. 2003

    De eerste Phantom VII uit Goodwood

    Phantom VII luidt het Goodwood-tijdperk in met een spaceframecarrosserie en een complete auto die volledig in eigen huis wordt gebouwd.15

  6. 2012

    Phantom VII krijgt acht versnellingen

    Series II krijgt een achttrapsautomaat, volledig ledkoplampen en een nieuw differentieel; het gecombineerde brandstofverbruik daalt met 10%.67

  7. 2017

    Phantom VIII krijgt een nieuw geraamte

    De Architecture of Luxury debuteert onder Phantom VIII, samen met Rolls-Royce's eerste vierwielbesturing en luchtvering die het wegdek scant.18

  8. 2022

    Series II verschijnt met Phantom Platino

    De Series II van de achtste generatie krijgt een verlichte grille. Phantom Platino viert de introductie met leren voorstoelen en stoffen achterstoelen.9

  9. 2025

    100 jaar, 25 Centenary Phantoms

    De Phantom Centenary Private Collection, gelimiteerd tot 25 auto's, viert 100 jaar met Spirit of Ecstasy-beeldjes van massief goud en textiel voor de achterstoelen met 160,000 borduursteken.10
