    A 2-million-yen outdoor brief

Japan sales begin November 13. The original X-Trail targets outdoor sports fans with washable cargo boards and water-repellent seats.13

  2. 2001

GT: 276 hp, turbo and variable lift

Japan's GT pairs a 2.0 L SR20VET turbo with a four-speed automatic and 4WD; variable valve lift and timing meet boost for the first time.12

  3. 2007

    T31 gains ALL MODE 4x4-i

    The redesign adds yaw-moment control, hill-descent control and hill-start assist, with 2.0/2.5 L gasoline or 2.0 L diesel engines.124

  4. 2008

    M9R diesel joins Japan's 20GT

The 2.0 L M9R diesel delivers 171 hp and 360 Nm; the 20GT is the first vehicle to meet Japan's Post New Long-term emissions rules.5

  5. 2013

    T32: CMF platform, 7-seat option

The Frankfurt debut brings CMF architecture, optional seven seats and crossover curves in place of the previous generation's square-edged body.126

  6. 2015

Hybrid: one motor and 2 clutches

Japan's Hybrid uses one motor and two clutches, decoupling the engine for electric running; the 2WD version claims 20.6 km/L on JC08.7

  7. 2019

    1.3 DIG-T introduces a 7-speed DCT

    The 1.7 dCi makes 148 hp with manual or CVT; the 158 hp 1.3 DIG-T brings a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and front-wheel drive.89

  8. 2022

    Japan's T33 goes e-Power-only

Japan's fourth generation uses a VC-Turbo gasoline engine only to generate electricity; electric motors drive the wheels, with e-4ORCE optional.11011

  9. 2025

    First X-Trail NISMO

Japan's NISMO adds Kayaba Swing Valve dampers, sends more drive rearward via e-4ORCE and wears Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires on 20-inch wheels.12

Check the name badge: from the third-generation X-Trail, Rogue is the shared model sold in the US and Canada.2626

  • Dongfeng Fengdu MX6

A rebadged T31 with different front and rear bumpers; its Dongfeng-Fengdu branding identifies it.2
