The story

Made to combine luxury with 4x4 ability, Bentley's first SUV arrived in late 2015. Painted and assembled in Crewe, it is named after Roque Bentayga in Gran Canaria.34

    600-hp W12 launches

    Late 2015 brings the W12: Bentley claims 301 km/h and 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds. A 2017 independent retest records 3.6 seconds.245

    First diesel: 429 hp, triple charging

    The V8 diesel arrives in September with two exhaust-driven turbos and an electrically driven third charger.26

    542-hp petrol V8 joins the range

    January brings the 542-hp V8: a claimed 4.5 seconds to 100 km/h and 290 km/h; its lighter nose adds life compared with the W12.247

    The Azure Hybrid has a quoted 14.3-kWh battery and a 37-km EPA electric range; testing averages 45 km over seven charge cycles.12

    2026 Speed: 641-hp V8 replaces W12

    The 2026 Speed replaces the W12 with a 4.0 L twin-turbo V8, gaining 15 hp without hybrid assistance.13

How to spot one

Look for

  • 2016 cars: tall Bentley grille and a winged B on the nose.2324
  • 2020 facelift: elliptical rear lamps, Bentley tailgate lettering and a bumper-mounted rear plate.4
  • Diesel: front-fender badge and trapezoidal quad exhaust tips.4
  • 2023 Hybrid: a plain Hybrid badge gives away its plug-in powertrain.12
  • EWB: noticeably longer rear doors stretch the side profile.11

    Elliptical LED headlights moved 3 cm higher; the grille and fog-light surrounds were reshaped.425

    Elliptical rear lamps and a full-width tailgate replace the old rear design; the rear plate moves to the bumper and the spoiler grows.425

    New side vents, a new 22-inch wheel design and oval split exhaust outlets provide extra clues.4
