Created to add cargo room while keeping the S60's coupe-like profile, the V60 started on P3 in 2010. A second generation switched to SPA in 2018.345

    Six engines launch the first V60

    T3, T4, T5 and T6 gas engines join D3 and D5 diesels, with manual or six-speed Geartronic automatic transmissions.6

    1,000 Pure Limited diesel plug-ins

    Production starts with the 1,000-car Pure Limited edition in Electric Silver, introducing the world's first diesel plug-in hybrid.14

  3. 2017

    Polestar swaps six cylinders for four

    Polestar trades its 345-hp 3.0-liter six and six-speed auto for a 362-hp turbo- and supercharged 2.0-liter four with eight speeds.7

  4. 2018

    SPA and oncoming-collision braking

    The second generation moves to SPA, launches with a 250-hp T5 and adds the first automatic braking system aimed at oncoming collisions.45

  5. 2020

    B badges bring standard hybrid tech

    Hybrid tech becomes standard: B3, B4 and B5 gas engines and a B4 diesel arrive, while T6 Recharge joins the existing T8 plug-in hybrid.8

  6. 2023

    Volvo pulls its UK wagons

    The V60 and V90 leave the UK market in summer after demand shrinks as buyers favor SUVs.9

    455 hp and 4.1 seconds to 60 mph

    The T8 Polestar Engineered gets a 14.9-kWh usable battery and 143-hp rear motor; the 455-hp hybrid reaches 60 mph in a tested 4.1 seconds.2

    The UK wagon comeback

    The estate returns to the UK in July with Plus and Ultra trims, offering mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.4

    America loses its last Volvo wagon

    After the Polestar's departure, Cross Country production for the U.S. is scheduled to end in April 2026, closing Volvo's American wagon chapter.10

Look for

  • First generation: coupe-like silhouette and a double-wave body line linking headlights and taillights.34
  • Second generation: slim headlights with Thor's Hammer LED running-light signatures.411
  • Second generation: pronounced shoulders and slim taillights that climb high up the body.411
  • Second generation: long hood, short overhangs and an almost straight roof.411
  • Cross Country: taller stance, fender extensions or black wheel-arch cladding.41718

    Revised bumpers conceal the exhausts; Dark gets a new grille. Android infotainment includes Google Maps and Assistant.11
