Created for NISSAN 180's global sales push, the Teana arrived in 2003 with a Modern Living cabin, sofa-inspired seats and an available powered passenger ottoman.13

    The Teana launches in Japan with living-room-inspired luxury. Nissan claims a first for its 3.5-liter: a belt CVT for large-engine front-drive cars.1

  2. 2005

    A hound inspires the updated cabin

    The December update adds Weimaraner gray-brown to the ecru interior, borrowing its color from the German hunting dog.3

    J32: D platform, SHIFT_hospitality

    The redesign becomes Japan's first Nissan on the D platform, with SHIFT_hospitality expressing its emphasis on passenger comfort.45

    China adopts Altima and VC-Turbo

    The L34 reaches China under the Altima name, introducing a 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine with compression adjustable from 8:1 to 14:1.49

    1:25.298 and 6 CCPC group wins

    The Chinese sedan earns CCPC professional-station gold and 6 group wins, completing the combined-performance course in 1:25.298.10

    HarmonySpace5.0 in every grade

    China's new Teana adds star-ring LEDs and Huawei HarmonySpace5.0 across all grades. Its 2.0-liter VC-Turbo delivers 371 Nm.11

Look for

  • J32: six side windows, a sweeping side crease and rear lamps that bulge outward.45
  • Early L33: inward-kinked headlights, a sharp V-shaped chrome grille and exposed twin tailpipes.17
  • China's 2018 L34 Altima: boomerang LED headlights, a honeycomb grille and a floating-roof design.49
  • China's 2025 Teana: a star-ring LED feature stretches from the grille center toward both headlights.11
