How to spot one

Look for

  • First-generation Coupe: low body, broad wheel arches and a sloping fastback roof.3
  • From model year 2018, the first-generation range shares a grille with 15 vertical chrome bars.7

Year by year

  1. 2017 / 2018 model year

The Panamericana grille with 15 vertical bars becomes the shared family face, accompanied by a restyled front bumper.7

  2. 2020 model year

Arched front light guides combine running lights and turn signals; rear lamp backgrounds turn dark.817

  3. 2020 model year

GT gets round twin exhaust outlets; GT C gets trapezoidal twins. Both receive revised rear diffuser inserts.8

  4. 2020 model year

Digital gauges, a larger center screen, console display buttons and a new steering wheel identify the updated cabin.8

  5. 2021

Entry GT Coupe and Roadster gain red brake calipers; Stealth Editions instead use black calipers and a dark-chrome grille.10

  6. 2023 / second generation

Flush door handles, three-dot running lights and linked horizontal rear LEDs distinguish the new coupe.411

Don’t confuse it with

  • Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé / Mercedes-AMG GT SUV

Check the doors and body style: this family consists of two-door sports cars; the four-door and SUV are unrelated models.3

  • SLS AMG

The first-generation GT Coupe has conventional front-hinged doors; the similarly low, wide SLS Coupe uses gullwings.321

  • Mercedes-AMG R232 SL-Class

Look at the roof: the second-generation GT is a coupe, while its closely related SL counterpart is a convertible.35
