How to spot one

Look for

  • G08: mostly closed kidney grilles retain air openings along their lower edges.7
  • G08: look for blue side stripes and grille accents, although these could be deleted.714
  • G08: rear bumper inserts occupy the places where the combustion X3 has exhaust outlets.7
  • NA5: upright kidneys and vertical running lights sit within a wide horizontal light signature.2
  • NA5: broad L-shaped tail lamps sit below a roof spoiler with a recess in its center.2

Year by year

  1. September 2021 (G08)

Facelift adds larger kidneys, headlights about 10 mm slimmer, a reshaped front bumper and three-dimensional LED tail lamps.9

  2. September 2021 (G08)

Center screen grows from 10.25 to 12.3 inches; the start button moves onto the center console.921

  3. December 2021 (UK)

Launch editions give way to M Sport on 19-inch wheels and M Sport Pro on 20-inch wheels.10

  4. 2025–2026

New generation adopts upright kidneys and flush pop-out handles; a display at the windscreen base replaces the gauge pod.223

Don’t confuse it with

  • BMW X3 (G01)

The G08 iX3 has a mostly closed grille and rear bumper inserts in place of the combustion X3's exhaust outlets.7
