Built for the growing compact luxury SUV market, the Macan became Porsche's global bestseller in 2015. Its 2024 electric successor overlapped with the original; the rear-drive EV offers up to 641 km of combined WLTP range.456

    Leipzig production starts in February

    US launch engines are twin-turbo V6s: a 340-hp 3.0-liter S and a 400-hp 3.6-liter Turbo, backed by seven-speed PDK and all-wheel drive.15

    Turbo Performance Pack: 434 hp

    The 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 delivers 600 Nm and 0–100 km/h in 4.4 seconds; 390-mm brakes and PASM suspension lowered 15 mm are standard.78

  4. 2018

    Diesel withdrawal and 53,000 recalls

    Porsche drops diesel in February. In May, 53,000 Macan diesels face recall after 5 illegal emissions defeat devices are identified.910

  5. 2019

    Macan S puts one turbo inside the V

    The US S adopts a single twin-scroll turbo inside its 3.0-liter V6, replacing the previous twin-turbo layout; output rises to 348 hp and 480 Nm.11

  6. 2020

    Turbo downsizes to a 2.9-liter V6

    The Turbo trades its 3.6-liter V6 for a 434-hp 2.9-liter twin-turbo; optional Sport Chrono cuts 0–60 mph to 4.1 seconds.12

  7. 2022

    434-hp GTS takes the top spot

    The US base rises to 261 hp and the S to 375 hp; the GTS takes the Turbo's 434-hp 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 and the top spot.13

  8. 2024

    Electric reinvention at 800 volts

    Built alongside the original at Leipzig, the EV uses 100 kWh (95 usable) and up to 270-kW DC charging: 10–80% in about 21 minutes under ideal conditions.25

  9. 2026

    Gasoline production ends in July

    The first-generation Macan leaves production worldwide in July, after Europe withdrew it in spring 2024 over cybersecurity rules.314
