The Mini Cabriolet's success inspired BMW's open-top reborn MINI in 2004. In a 2016 comparison, the Cooper beat the Fiat 500C and DS 3 Cabrio as the trio's only full convertible.23

    Shown at Geneva in 2004, the R52 launches as One, Cooper and Cooper S; production runs from July 2004 to August 2008.4

    March brings the R57. Cooper S figures include 7.9 s to 100 km/h, a 36 m stop from 100 km/h and a 1:21.30 Hockenheim Short lap.56

    A larger body and wheelbase mark the third generation; hidden rollover bars improve rearward visibility.89

  2. 2018 / US 2019 model year

    Available LED lights gained full rings and Union Jack rear patterns; the latter reached US cars for the 2019 model year.2824

  3. 2021

    A deeper black grille surround and reshaped bumpers arrived; Union Jack taillights became standard and Zesty Yellow joined the Convertible palette.8

  4. October 2024 / early 2025
