The story

Freeman Thomas's 2004–2008 crossover aimed to mix minivan utility, SUV seating and sedan handling. Irina Zavatski and interior designer Winnie Cheung shaped the 2017 Town & Country replacement, which introduced minivans to plug-in hybrid power.12

    Pacifica concept breaks cover

    The AWD concept previews a near-identical production car for early 2003, with the 3.5-liter V6 from the Chrysler 300M.4

    Windsor begins crossover production

    The 2004-model crossover enters production in January, alongside Chrysler's long-wheelbase minivans.1

  3. 2007

    4.0-liter V6 meets a six-speed

    The crossover gains a 255-hp 4.0-liter V6 and a six-speed automatic; the base front-drive 3.8-liter keeps its four-speed.1

    Last crossover built: November 23

    The last Pacifica crossover leaves the assembly line on November 23, ending production of the 2004–2008 model family.1

  5. 2016

    Town & Country makes way for Pacifica

    Revealed in January for the 2017 model year, the new minivan revives the crossover's name and replaces the Town & Country.12

  6. 2017

    The first plug-in hybrid minivan

    The Hybrid gets a 16-kWh underfloor pack, 53 km electric range and 84 MPGe; a 240-volt charge takes two hours. Second-row seats cannot stow.25

  7. 2020

    AWD arrives in the Launch Edition

    Touring-L gains the AWD Launch Edition in June; for 2021, AWD expands across the gasoline range while retaining Stow 'n Go.26

  8. 2021

    Full-width LEDs and quilted Pinnacle

    A full-width LED rear light joins the facelift; the new Pinnacle adds quilted Caramel Nappa leather seats and matching second-row pillows.6

  9. 2026

    Hybrid exits; 2027 gets a new face

    The plug-in ends after a short 2026 run. For 2027, Select, Limited and Pinnacle gain vertical LEDs and a lit grille; Voyager becomes Pacifica LX.27

How to spot one

Look for

  • Crossover: a low, wagon-like body with four conventional hinged doors.3
  • Crossover: wedge-shaped sides and a roofline that arches down toward the rear.18
  • Minivan: sliding-door tracks hide beneath the rear-quarter side glass.8
  • Early minivan: rear glass appears to wrap around, with black triangular panels at the corners.19
  • Early minivan: flowing upper grille above a distinctive bow-tie-shaped lower opening.1920

Year by year

  1. 2007–2008 crossover

    The facelift revises the headlights, hood, fenders, grille and wheels; the new 4.0-liter drivetrain also adds dual exhaust.1

  2. 2008 crossover

    Base becomes LX, with 17-inch steel wheels marking the entry trim.3

  3. 2021 minivan

    A bigger grille and narrower headlights replace the early nose; a full-width rear LED signature joins the taillights.11

  4. 2027 Select/Limited/Pinnacle

    Vertical LED headlights and an illuminated piano-key grille define the new nose; the wing badge and rear applique also change.7

  5. 2027 LX

    LX returns in place of Voyager and keeps the original pre-facelift exterior.2
