OpelがFord Capriに対抗して送り出したMantaは、Asconaとプラットフォームを共有していました。Chuck JordanのもとでGeorge Gallionがデザインを担当。エイのエンブレムを考えるため、GallionはJacques Cousteauの水中写真を調べにParisまで足を運びました。245

    The Manta A debuts in September as Opel’s Ford Capri rival, two months before the Ascona on which it is based.1
