The story

Toyota and Subaru created the BRZ for steering feel and driving pleasure. Built in Gunma, it combines a low-mounted boxer with rear-wheel drive; BRZ means Boxer engine, Rear-wheel drive, Zenith.45

    First BRZ launches in Japan

    Japan sales start March 28. The standard first generation is 4,240 mm long and 1,775 mm wide, with a 2,570-mm wheelbase.45

    Japan's tS adds a carbon-wing GT Package

    The Japanese tS gains Brembo brakes and STI chassis parts; its GT PACKAGE adds a dry-carbon rear wing, BBS wheels and Recaro seats.6

    Manual BRZ climbs to 205 hp

    Manuals gain 5 hp and 4.3:1 gearing; automatics stay at 200 hp. New springs, dampers and a rear stabilizer revise the chassis.3

    The 300-car STI Sport TYPE RA brings a balanced FA24, automatic downshift rev matching and flat shifts without lifting the throttle.11
