Created to reach buyers priced out of the Range Rover Sport, the original Evoque combined a city-focused brief with the 2008 LRX concept's exterior shape almost unchanged.^2,3,4

The Detroit LRX concept establishes the Evoque's silhouette; remarkably little of its exterior design changes for production.¹

Halewood starts building the L538
On July 4, Halewood begins building the first-generation Evoque. The first customer deliveries follow in September.⁴
2015
Ingenium arrives for the 2016 model
The announced 2016 update introduces lighter Ingenium diesels, a new front bumper, revised grilles and LED headlights.⁵

Half a million built; Convertible joins
More than 500,000 are built in five years; Convertible assembly begins. The Evoque accounted for one in four Land Rover sales in 2015.⁶
2018
L538 ends; an electrified successor
L538 production ends. Revealed November 22, the second generation adopts Premium Transverse Architecture and a 48-volt mild hybrid.^4,7

P300e: electric drive at the rear
The P300e pairs a 1.5 L three-cylinder with an electric rear axle: 309 hp, 540 Nm, up to 55 km on electricity and 0-80% DC charging in 30 minutes.⁸

2024 update: 11.4-inch curved screen
A redesigned center console frees up cabin space, while a curved-glass Pivi Pro touchscreen takes over key vehicle functions.^9,10

London inspires the Hoxton Edition
The Hoxton Edition celebrates the London district with 20-inch Satin Gold wheels, Platinum Atlas exterior trim and illuminated edition treadplates.¹¹

Original hardtops: a mail-slot rear window and oversized side mirrors.²⁷
Second generation: flush door handles and very slim LED headlights.^4,7

Early Pure wore 18-inch wheels, Prestige added xenon headlights and Dynamic used more assertive exterior styling.^4,18
2016 model year
UK trims became SE, SE Tech, HSE Dynamic, HSE Dynamic Lux and Autobiography; a new front bumper, grilles, LED headlights and wheels mark the facelift.⁵
2016 model year
Efficient two-wheel-drive eD4 Coupe and five-door versions gained blue EVOQUE rear badging.^2,5
2018 model year
The 286 hp Si4 gains enlarged bumpers, gloss-black grille and vents, and black 20-inch split-spoke wheels.¹⁴

Second generation introduces flush handles and slimmer LED headlights, with shorter overhangs and smoother bodywork.^4,28,29
2024 update
Revised grille and super-slim headlights; inside, an 11.4-inch curved Pivi Pro touchscreen and redesigned center console.^9,10
