BMW's entry-level EV after the i3, the iX1 arrived in 2022 as the electric U11 X1. Its UKL2 architecture accommodates combustion, plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains.145

    BMW reveals the iX1, the X1's first fully electric version and its planned smallest, least expensive EV after the i3.4

    November: Regensburg production starts

    iX1 production begins on November 11, with high-voltage batteries supplied by the neighboring Regensburg facility.6

    November: eDrive20 joins the family
