The story

The original Ghost offered a smaller, lower-priced alternative to the Phantom and became Rolls-Royce's best seller. Its 2020 successor adopted the cleaner Post Opulence look.245

How to spot one

Look for

  • Rear doors are hinged at the back, opening coach-style.512
  • Original car: a long hood, short front overhang and sharply swept-back front pillars.12
  • Original grille: curved-in sides and recessed vanes give the opening a jet-intake look.12
  • Second generation: rectangular headlights contain C-shaped daytime running lights.24
  • Second-generation grilles can glow: concealed lamps illuminate the grille spokes.4

Year by year

  1. 2014–2020

First-generation Series II reshapes every panel ahead of the windshield and adds a wake-channel hood.418

  2. 2014–2020

First-generation Series II adds unbroken LED running-light rings and larger front intakes with chrome inserts.418

  3. 2018

The first-generation grille frame projects farther forward around an inset grille; wheel designs change.16

  4. 2021

The second generation brings rectangular headlights with C-shaped running lights and an illuminated grille.24

  5. 2025–

Second-generation Series II gets slimmer headlights, outer-corner DRLs, a larger grille and banded taillights; 22-inch wheels are optional.411

Don’t confuse it with

  • Rolls-Royce Phantom

The original Ghost has a sleeker grille and is over 400 mm shorter than the Phantom sedan.1213

  • Bentley Flying Spur

The 2021 Flying Spur has faceted headlight rings; the Ghost has rectangular lamps with C-shaped running lights.12

Against its rivals

  • Bentley Flying Spur V8 (2021)

Ghost vs Bentley Flying Spur V8 (2021)
